I have been photographing pregnant mamas, newborn babies, one year old babies, children, high school seniors, and families for about three years now, here in San Ramon, California and the surrounding cities.
I absolutely LOVE what I do! I mean, how many of us have jobs that we are passionate about? ME! ME! ME! I also love getting the opportunity to learn new things in order to get better at my craft. This year, I have invested in quite a few online courses about business, posing, in-person sales, lighting, and more. I am also hoping to go to a newborn photography workshop, held by two of my absolute FAVORITE photographers, Caralee Case and Jennifer Nace. They are AMAZING, and I want to be just as amazing as they are, so that I can create incredibly beautiful artwork for my clients.
I love the whole creative process that comes with photographing newborns, cake smash sessions, children, even the maternity sessions! I enjoy being able to talk to my clients to find out what they’re looking for, what colors they like, etc. And sometimes they just give me free reign by saying “I trust you…do your magic!”. There’s not quite anything quite as satisfying as putting together beautiful colors and props, and then seeing the results after a session. Sometimes, I get SO excited just seeing the images in the back of the camera, and can’t wait to begin the editing process!
This baby girl’s mama wanted just pink and white, or pink and cream. Ok, I can work with that. But, I also like to bring out one more color combination, just in case. And in this case, mom was SUPER happy! She LOVED the soft purple, even better than the pink and cream!
Getting mom and dad in the photos is so important to me. This is the ONLY time your baby will be this age. Even if it’s not newborn photos, it’s so important to get into the photos (I’m having to learn this myself, because I’m not a fan of being on the other side of the camera!). You and your family will have beautiful images to cherish for a lifetime. This is one of the reasons I am working hard at learning better posing techniques for all of my sessions.
And, Fresh 48 sessions! Oh! These are just incredible! New life! So tiny, such a sweet little miracle from our Heavenly Father! So precious. Never again will they be this little. And those first few months go by in such a blur! You’re so exhausted from lack of sleep, and learning to be a parent (even if you already have a few children!), that you can’t remember what they looked like when they were first born. I want to capture this for you, to help you remember. So, not only am I striving to learn more about my craft, but I’m also striving to educate my clients on why these sessions are SO important!
I like to use props and such with my newborns, but I want to learn the best way to use them, to create a beautiful and timeless image. This sweet little angel did such a good job at her session. She was a good sleeper, once we got her to sleep, and she was a good poser. She was patient with me, doing all sorts of different looks, in order to get better at what I do.
Cake Smash sessions are so much fun. Sometimes not so much for the baby. They’re unsure about the studio lights. Unsure about me. Unsure about this big thing in front of them. Usually they hear “Don’t touch!”, and now mommy and daddy are trying to get them to push their hands in the cake and make a mess. I love some of this punkin’s facial expressions!
Thank you for trusting me with your precious memories! I can’t wait to learn more and more, so that I can keep creating images that you will treasure for a lifetime.
