PRETTY IN PINK

Baby M’s mama LOVES pink! So we did plenty of pink for her newborn session!

I loved finally getting to meet her sweet mama, after we’ve been friends on Facebook for a little over a year now, thanks to a mutual friend. And the rest of the family was just as wonderful! I love when clients become friends…friends whom you want to invite over for BBQ. That’s how I envisioned my business.

One of my most favorite things to do for newborn sessions, is to pick out a color scheme and create a gorgeous collage of color. Sometimes parents give me creative license, and I LOVE it! If you have specific colors in mind, you’re more than welcome to let me know, and I’ll put a set together based on what you’re wanting.

My Baby Sister’s Baby

My sister Margaret, and her husband Will have been married for just over 2 years, and I was SO excited to find out last summer that they were expecting their first baby. I KNEW I wanted to be able to fly out to New Mexico to do their newborn photos, but I wasn’t sure how that was going to happen, since money was tight, and their due date was right around January 1st…you know…just after Christmas!

Dublin-CA-Newborn-Photographer KC 35

Well, I figured I would post a request for airline miles on Facebook, just in case any of my friends would want to do a trade. I’m so thankful I did that, because my friend Susan came through for me…not just with one round trip ticket for me, but also a round trip ticket for my 22 year old son, who is really close with my sister. Thank you, Jesus!

So, we headed to New Mexico, where it was snowing! YIKES! I hadn’t driven in snow in YEARS, but with God’s help, we did it. My niece’s newborn session was one of my most difficult sessions to date, but it was worth it. She’s such a precious little sweet pea! I’m not sure I’ll ever “travel” to do newborn sessions again though, because that was TOUGH! I’m thankful that I was able to borrow studio lighting and the same softbox that I use from Britt at Falling Star Photography in Albuquerque. As it was, I took 2 suitcases full of props and such!!! I was thankful my son was there to help with luggage!!!

Spring Newborn Session Sale!

I have 3 children and one foster baby. My oldest is 21 years old, then I have an 8 year old and a 5 year old. NOT ONE of them has newborn photos! And that makes me SO sad. Really, I had no control over the 8 year old and 5 year old’s newborn photos, because we adopted them and got them long after newborn stage. But with my 21 year old, I really had no clue that there WAS such thing as newborn photos! I have a few snapshots of him when he was tiny, and I’m SO thankful for those! But you can bet that if I had known of newborn photos, I would have gotten them done. The years go by SO quickly, and pretty soon you’re fighting with them and they want to move out! Just kidding…sort of.

Believe me, I know how difficult it is to leave your home and go to a studio where you’re going to sit for a few hours while your baby is photographed, but it is SO worth it! And, I will have a comfortable chair available, so you can even take a nap if you want! There will be those weeks, and maybe even MONTHS where you are just SO exhausted that you don’t even remember what your baby looked like and how they sounded and smelled when they were so tiny. I firmly believe that photos will help evoke those memories. And if you truly aren’t able to come to my studio, I will be happy to come to you. A lifestyle newborn session can be so different from a “posed” studio session, but it can be just as sweet and memorable.

For the next two weeks, I am offering a SUPER deal on your newborn session. Book and pay for your session between now and March 14th, 2015 and your session fee will only be $225! That’s $175 off my regular price! This is the session fee only, and does not include any digital images or printed products.

If you are interested in booking and would like to see my pricing menu for printed products, please email me at info@angieochoaphotography.com or call me at 925-548-2897.

10 Day New Sawyer | San Ramon Newborn Photographer | Angie Ochoa Photography

Oh how I love newborn sessions! I feel like this is where my creativity just flows and flows like a rushing mountain spring after the snows! I love it when I get free reign to do what I like with newborns. I was actually sent this floor mat in the photo below, to photograph and share the images with the vendor. I know, pretty blessed, right?San-Ramon-Newborn-Photographer-Baby S 3-2 copy

I’m not normally one who likes purples, but lately I feel like they have just looked so pretty with the baby girls who come in for their newborn sessions. Check out the last photo in this post, where mama and baby BOTH look gorgeous against the purple backdrop!

San-Ramon-Newborn-Photographer-Baby S 5

These “swaddle sacks” are a new thing for me, and so of course I needed to try them out. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE how darling they look with their matching bonnets! These are the perfect thing to get baby cozy and sleepy. They’re all swaddled up tight like they were still in mama’s tummy, and they just sack out!

San-Ramon-Newborn-Photographer-Baby S 13

I’ve really been loving the soft black and white images that I’ve seen other newborn photographers do, so I wanted to do some too. So sweet and so classic.

San-Ramon-Newborn-Photographer-Baby S 19-2

As we were shooting Sawyer’s newborn session, her mama was telling me about the tough things they had to go through before Sawyer was conceived. She truly is a miracle baby, and a “Rainbow Baby”. Rainbow Babies are babies who are born after a miscarriage or after an older sibling passes away, typically as a baby. The Rainbow signifies hope after the storm. What a precious reminder of God’s faithfulness to His people in the story of Noah and the Ark…the rainbow of hope after the storm.

San-Ramon-Newborn-Photographer-Baby S 23-Quote

I can’t NOT get pictures of parents with their new bundles of joy. Especially when it’s their first baby. I am always in awe of the love and joy I see in parents’ faces when they are holding these little babes. This mama is definitely no exception. Can you see the love there too? I know that those first few weeks or months can be SO exhausting, but I would encourage all new parents to get in your newborn photos. This is a time that you will want to look back at and remember, after the haziness from new baby/lack of sleep has passed.

Creating a Wall Art Collection With Your Photos | San Ramon Portrait Photographer | Angie Ochoa Photography

wall art collection, canvas collection, photo collection, Angie Ochoa Photography, San Ramon California Family Photographer, Dublin California Family Photographer, Danville California Family Photographer, Pleasanton California Family Photographer, boutique portrait studio, Alamo California Family Photographer

In my previous post, I talked about some changes that I am making in 2015. I’m SO excited to be able to offer you a full service experience of assisting you in creating a gorgeous wall art collection with the family photos that I have taken for your family. I am happy to come to your home, measure your space, talk about what works well in your space, and guide you in purchasing the perfect collection for your family. I know that sometimes it’s difficult to picture how something will look on your wall, so I’m here to help you with that!

Take a look at this collection in the above photo. I know this family fairly well, as they are friends of ours, and I know what their home looks like. I also know that family is everything to them. These parents LOVE their kiddos, and make time for them, so of course showcasing their photos is definitely not a stretch! This collection of images shows how close-knit this family is, and it shows off each individual child. The brother is ferociously protective of his sister, and loves her with such a sweetness. I wanted to help this family to show their personalities through this collection.

I am able to take a photograph of the wall or walls that you’re looking to fill with photographs. I can put those photos into a program that I have that creates various different collections, using YOUR photos, until you see something that SINGS out to you! I will then order your canvases or prints, and hand deliver them to you with beautiful packaging, deserving of the wonderful and beautiful clients that trust me with their photos.

If you would like me to photograph your beautiful family, and help you put together some incredible collections of images for you to show off, please send me an email at info@angieochoaphotography.com

I’d love to hear from you! By the way, I’m on Facebook, Google+, Twitter, and Instagram too!

A New Outlook in 2015 | San Ramon, California Portrait Photographer | Angie Ochoa Photography

In 2015, I will be changing the way that I serve my clients. I want to be able to offer a wonderful experience, from the moment you call or write to inquire about pricing, to the moment you hang your gorgeous photographs on the walls of your home. I am now going to be offering consultation services for more than just what to wear for your photo session. I will be offering a full viewing and ordering appointment after your session, to help you decide how to display your gorgeous family photos. I have software that will allow me to use a photo of your own walls, where we can plug in photos to see what collection will look best for your space.

Angie Ochoa Photography, San Ramon Family Photographer, Pleasanton Family Photographer, Dublin Family Photographer, Danville Family Photographer, Livermore Family Photographer, San Ramon Newborn Photographer, East Bay Newborn Photographer

These images shown give you an idea of what I will have available for you. We can look at several different display designs and see which one works best and is most pleasing to the eye.

As you can see from the photograph below, there are quite a few sizes from which to choose. This wall display guide gives you an idea of what a certain size looks like, in comparison to say, your couch. An 11×14 canvas or print all by itself, is not going to appeal to the eye as much as say that 30×40 or the 24×36. And as you can see, 5x7s and 8x10s are best suited as table top displays.

Angie-Ochoa-Photography-Wall-Art-Guide-3

I know that this kind of project can seem a little overwhelming at times, but that’s ok. I will be there to guide you every step of the way. I am not a pushy salesperson, simply out to make a buck. I really want to help you add beauty to your home. And what can be more beautiful than photos of your own family?

Angie Ochoa Photography, San Ramon Family Photographer, San Ramon Newborn Photographer, Dublin Family Photographer, Danville Family Photographer, East Bay Family Photographer, I am so very excited at these changes that are coming this year! I’m looking forward to meeting new clients and photographing past clients. I can’t wait to see what this year brings! I hope that you will allow me the honor and privilege of creating beautiful memories that you will be able to pass down from generation to generation, just as your parents and grandparents have done for you.

What Goes Into a Newborn Session | San Ramon Newborn Photographer | Angie Ochoa Photography

One of my favorite kinds of photography is newborn photography. I LOVE these precious little ones, so brand new. What an incredible honor I have, to be able to capture their newborn beauty, before they grow too quickly!

I wanted to just take a little time, and let you know what all goes into one of my newborn sessions.San-Ramon-Newborn-Photographer, Danville-Newborn-Photographer, Angie-Ochoa-Photography, Pleasanton-Newborn-Photographer, Alamo-Newborn-Photographer, Dublin-Newborn-Photographer Newborn session with Angie Ochoa Photography generally take about three hours to shoot. But that is not the only amount of time that goes into a session. It takes me about an hour to set up and an hour to take down and put everything away. I don’t have a fancy studio, though one day, I would love to have a studio space to call my own!

I have baskets, blankets, crates, bowls, fur rugs, wraps, headbands, tiny newborn clothing, hats, halos, basket fillers, backdrops, a big newborn beanbag for posing, a frame that holds fabric that goes over that newborn beanbag. Alamo Newborn Photographer - Baby Y 30 When a family contacts me about doing newborn photos, one of the big questions I ask them, besides gender of the baby, is “Do you have a nursery theme, or color scheme?”

The reason that I ask this question, is because I want to have things ready so that I can photograph their bundle of joy using props and such in the colors of their nursery. This takes some time, so this is one reason it’s good to book your session when you’re in your second trimester. This way, I have enough time to pull things together that I might not already have. I will do 3-4 different set-ups with several different poses in each set-up. Then, parents can create a beautiful collage of sorts, to display in their nursery, or their living room. I want all of the photos to be able to be displayed together if that is the desire of the parents.

San-Ramon-Newborn-Photographer, Danville-Newborn-Photographer, Angie-Ochoa-Photography, Pleasanton-Newborn-Photographer, Alamo-Newborn-Photographer, Dublin-Newborn-Photographer Once I have most of my props and things pulled out, I will set the central heat to about 85 degrees, so that baby is nice and toasty. Yes, I get HOT! I mean SWEATY HOT! And I typically don’t sweat a lot. But when I do newborn sessions, I do! Sorry, I know that might be a little TMI. San-Ramon-Newborn-Photographer, Danville-Newborn-Photographer, Angie-Ochoa-Photography, Pleasanton-Newborn-Photographer, Alamo-Newborn-Photographer, Dublin-Newborn-Photographer

I am very careful about making sure baby is completely safe at all times. I’m down on my knees for much of the session. Sometimes I’m holding baby, rocking them to sleep, while on my knees. Sometimes, I’m holding a firm hand on them just to get them to settle into a good sleepy position. Let me tell you, newborn photography is not for the weak! There are times when I’m leaning over a basket or beanbag for 10 minutes or more, just to ensure that baby is in a good spot and sleeping.San-Ramon-Newborn-Photographer, Danville-Newborn-Photographer, Angie-Ochoa-Photography, Pleasanton-Newborn-Photographer, Alamo-Newborn-Photographer, Dublin-Newborn-Photographer After the session is over, I wash, fold, put away all of the items that I have used. Sometimes I have help from my family, but many times, it’s just me putting it all away. Then, I try to get a little sneak peek up on Instagram or Facebook.San-Ramon-Newborn-Photographer, Danville-Newborn-Photographer, Angie-Ochoa-Photography, Pleasanton-Newborn-Photographer, Alamo-Newborn-Photographer, Dublin-Newborn-Photographer The real fun comes when I go to edit. I love seeing all of the beautiful photos, and sometimes it’s tough for me to weed through images to pick the very best! I usually will end up with about 20-25 images if it’s just baby, and about 30-35 if it’s baby and other family members. My processing time is probably about 6 hours or more for a newborn photo session.San-Ramon-Newborn-Photographer, Danville-Newborn-Photographer, Angie-Ochoa-Photography, Pleasanton-Newborn-Photographer, Alamo-Newborn-Photographer, Dublin-Newborn-Photographer Once I have finished editing the photos, I will set up a viewing and ordering appointment for my clients. I love getting to see their reactions when they first see the photos. That is nothing short of priceless! While it’s hard on my body to do these sessions, they are truly one of my favorite types of session. I LOVE MY JOB!

Always Striving to Learn | San Ramon, CA Portrait Photographer | Angie Ochoa Photography

Angie Ochoa Photography, SF Bay Area Newborn Photographer, East Bay Newborn Photographer, Pleasanton CA Newborn Photographer, San Ramon CA Newborn Photographer, Danville CA Newborn Photographer, Dublin CA Newborn Photographer, San Ramon Maternity Photographer, East Bay Maternity Photographer, Dublin California Maternity Photographer, Northern California Maternity Photographer

I have been photographing pregnant mamas, newborn babies, one year old babies, children, high school seniors, and families for about three years now, here in San Ramon, California and the surrounding cities.

Angie Ochoa Photography, SF Bay Area Newborn Photographer, East Bay Newborn Photographer, Pleasanton CA Newborn Photographer, San Ramon CA Newborn Photographer, Danville CA Newborn Photographer, Dublin CA Newborn Photographer,

I absolutely LOVE what I do! I mean, how many of us have jobs that we are passionate about? ME! ME! ME! I also love getting the opportunity to learn new things in order to get better at my craft. This year, I have invested in quite a few online courses about business, posing, in-person sales, lighting, and more. I am also hoping to go to a newborn photography workshop, held by two of my absolute FAVORITE photographers, Caralee Case and Jennifer Nace. They are AMAZING, and I want to be just as amazing as they are, so that I can create incredibly beautiful artwork for my clients.

Angie Ochoa Photography, SF Bay Area Newborn Photographer, East Bay Newborn Photographer, Pleasanton CA Newborn Photographer, San Ramon CA Newborn Photographer, Danville CA Newborn Photographer, Dublin CA Newborn Photographer,

I love the whole creative process that comes with photographing newborns, cake smash sessions, children, even the maternity sessions! I enjoy being able to talk to my clients to find out what they’re looking for, what colors they like, etc. And sometimes they just give me free reign by saying “I trust you…do your magic!”. There’s not quite anything quite as satisfying as putting together beautiful colors and props, and then seeing the results after a session. Sometimes, I get SO excited just seeing the images in the back of the camera, and can’t wait to begin the editing process!

Angie Ochoa Photography, SF Bay Area Newborn Photographer, East Bay Newborn Photographer, Pleasanton CA Newborn Photographer, San Ramon CA Newborn Photographer, Danville CA Newborn Photographer, Dublin CA Newborn Photographer,

This baby girl’s mama wanted just pink and white, or pink and cream. Ok, I can work with that. But, I also like to bring out one more color combination, just in case. And in this case, mom was SUPER happy! She LOVED the soft purple, even better than the pink and cream!

Angie Ochoa Photography, SF Bay Area Newborn Photographer, East Bay Newborn Photographer, Pleasanton CA Newborn Photographer, San Ramon CA Newborn Photographer, Danville CA Newborn Photographer, Dublin CA Newborn Photographer,

Getting mom and dad in the photos is so important to me. This is the ONLY time your baby will be this age. Even if it’s not newborn photos, it’s so important to get into the photos (I’m having to learn this myself, because I’m not a fan of being on the other side of the camera!). You and your family will have beautiful images to cherish for a lifetime. This is one of the reasons I am working hard at learning better posing techniques for all of my sessions.

Angie Ochoa Photography, SF Bay Area Newborn Photographer, East Bay Newborn Photographer, Pleasanton CA Newborn Photographer, San Ramon CA Newborn Photographer, Danville CA Newborn Photographer, Dublin CA Newborn Photographer, Fresh 48 Photographer

And, Fresh 48 sessions! Oh! These are just incredible! New life! So tiny, such a sweet little miracle from our Heavenly Father! So precious. Never again will they be this little. And those first few months go by in such a blur! You’re so exhausted from lack of sleep, and learning to be a parent (even if  you already have a few children!), that you can’t remember what they looked like when they were first born. I want to capture this for you, to help you remember. So, not only am I striving to learn more about my craft, but I’m also striving to educate my clients on why these sessions are SO important!

Angie Ochoa Photography, SF Bay Area Newborn Photographer, East Bay Newborn Photographer, Pleasanton CA Newborn Photographer, San Ramon CA Newborn Photographer, Danville CA Newborn Photographer, Dublin CA Newborn Photographer,

I like to use props and such with my newborns, but I want to learn the best way to use them, to create a beautiful and timeless image. This sweet little angel did such a good job at her session. She was a good sleeper, once we got her to sleep, and she was a good poser. She was patient with me, doing all sorts of different looks, in order to get better at what I do.

Cake Smash sessions are so much fun. Sometimes not so much for the baby. They’re unsure about the studio lights. Unsure about me. Unsure about this big thing in front of them. Usually they hear “Don’t touch!”, and now mommy and daddy are trying to get them to push their hands in the cake and make a mess. I love some of this punkin’s facial expressions!

Dana is Super Woman! No, SERIOUSLY! Would you believe that she is pregnant with her SEVENTH BOY????? That totally qualifies her to be Super Woman, right? Her oldest is already grown and out of the house, so that qualifies her even more!

I met Dana when she volunteered to be my model for a model call I did, so that I could photograph some of my new maternity pieces. I had no idea what to expect from the location, as I had never shot there, but I was thrilled to see just how gorgeous the location was! Perfect for the look I was going for in this session.

And when Dana told me about her love for fairies, I just HAD to do a special image for her.
